Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

Inventory QR APP is available on iOS and Android. This policy covers both; where the platforms differ, the platform is named.

Information We Collect

  • Account information (optional): Signing in is optional on both platforms — the app is fully usable without an account.
    • iOS: If you sign in with Apple ID, we receive your name and email address only if you choose to share them (Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email" is fully supported)
    • Android: If you sign in with Google, the app receives your name, email address, and profile photo. This is stored only on your device — it is never transmitted to us, never included in backups or exports, and is removed when you sign out
  • User content: Homes, rooms, locations, items, lists, photos, documents, and activity logs you create within the app

Diagnostic Data (Opt-In Only)

  • No automatic tracking: On both platforms, the app does not send crash reports or collect usage statistics by default. Analytics collection is disabled in the app until you turn it on.
  • Opt-in Analytics & Crash Reporting: To help us improve the app and fix bugs, we offer an opt-in analytics feature using Google Firebase. If you choose to enable this (via the prompt at login or in Settings), we collect anonymous crash reports and generic usage data tied to a pseudonymous device identifier. This diagnostic data contains zero personal information, names, email addresses, or inventory data. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Privacy & Data.
  • Diagnostic logs stay on your device: The app keeps local diagnostic logs (automatically deleted after 30 days) that leave your device only if you choose to email us a bug report — the email composer shows you exactly what is included (app version, OS version, and recent logs).

How Your Data Is Stored

Your inventory data is stored locally on your device. Cloud backup is optional on both platforms and always goes to your own cloud account:

  • iOS: If you use iCloud, your data syncs through your private iCloud database (CloudKit) and the app's iCloud Drive folder, encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest
  • Android: If you enable Google Drive backup, your inventory — including photos and documents — is uploaded to an "Inventory QR App" folder in your own Google Drive. The app uses Google's restricted drive.file permission, which grants access only to files the app itself created; it cannot see anything else in your Drive

We have no access to your cloud data. It belongs to your Apple ID or Google Account, not to us — we operate no servers that store your inventory.

Services the App Communicates With

  • Apple (iOS): Sign in with Apple, iCloud/CloudKit sync, App Store purchases, notifications, calendar access (with your permission), and converting home addresses you enter into map coordinates (Apple geocoding)
  • Google (Android): Sign in with Google (optional), Google Drive backup (optional), Google Play services, and converting home addresses you enter into map coordinates (Android geocoding)
  • Open-Meteo (weather): If you add an address to a home, its coordinates are sent to the Open-Meteo weather service to show a local forecast. Only coordinates are sent — never your name, email, or inventory data
  • Our account endpoints (Cloudflare, iOS only): Only during account deletion, the app contacts our endpoints to revoke your Sign in with Apple token. These process your Apple user identifier and sign-in token solely to complete revocation, and a record of the revoked token is kept only as long as needed for that purpose. Android account deletion needs no such endpoint — it happens entirely on your device and in your own Google Drive

Camera and Photo Access

We request camera access to scan QR codes and photo library access to attach photos you choose to items and save generated QR codes. We do not access or store any photos beyond what you explicitly add.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. The only data flows are the ones listed above. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

Data Security

  • All data transmission is encrypted using industry-standard protocols
  • Local data is protected by your device's security features
  • We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures

Your Rights and Choices

  • View Your Data: Access all your inventory data within the app
  • Export Your Data: Download your data in JSON or ZIP format from Settings
  • Delete Your Data: Remove items, locations, or entire homes at any time. On iOS, Settings → Clear iCloud Data permanently deletes all inventory data from iCloud and every synced device. On Android, Settings → Troubleshooting → Clear All Local Data wipes everything on the device
  • Account Deletion (in-app): Delete your account directly in the app.
    • iOS: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This deletes your data, removes your iCloud profile, and revokes the app's access to your Apple ID
    • Android: Settings → Account → Delete Account & Data. This deletes every home, room, location, item, photo and document on the device, deletes the backup file from your Google Drive, and signs you out. You can additionally revoke the app's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page
You can also email us at support@inventoryqrapp.com if you prefer to request deletion that way.
  • Privacy Settings: Control camera, photos, notifications, calendar access, cloud backup, and anonymous diagnostics from within the app

Data Retention

Your data is retained until you delete it. Data you delete is removed from your device and, once sync or backup completes, from your iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android). Cloud data follows Apple's and Google's respective retention policies.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

International Users

Your inventory data is processed by Apple (on the iCloud infrastructure associated with your Apple ID region) or by Google (on the Google Drive infrastructure associated with your Google Account), and only if you enable cloud backup. Apple account-deletion requests are processed on Cloudflare's global network, and weather requests by Open-Meteo. We do not operate our own data centers.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete your personal information, to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. You can exercise deletion directly in the app (iOS: Settings → Account → Delete Account; Android: Settings → Account → Delete Account & Data) or contact us.

GDPR (EU Users)

If you are in the European Union, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, data portability, restriction of processing, and objection to processing. Access, editing, erasure (account deletion), and portability (JSON/ZIP export) are all available directly in the app; for anything else, contact us.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
